Use up spare ingredients with tese tips...

Wholemeal Flour:

  • Use to dust meat or fish, the fry in butter and oil for a great crunchy coating.
  • Use half wholemeal, half white flour in home-made pastry for a nutty flavour.

Dijon Mustard:

  • Spread over savoury tart bases before you add the filling for a real kick
  • Stir into mayonnaise for a great dip with chips
  • Mix with honey and use to spread over the breast of a chicken before roasting
  • Stir a spoonful through cheese sauces and pour over leeks or cauliflower

Streaky Bacon:

  • Add flavour to chunky vegetable soups, risottos, chicken casseroles and pasta dishes by adding a few rashers of chopped bacon
  • Use to wrap chicken breasts or sausages before frying of cooking in the oven
  • Chop and fry until crisp, then add warm chicken and spinach salad
