Arun spent many hours in the company of his aunts and cousins learning the esoteric ways of spice blending and traditional cooking. The spice blends used are time-tested, family blends handed down and refined over many generations. They’ve been cooked in all settings for all occasions, from the most humble meal to the most splendid banquet. Arun Kapil - Founder and MD of Green Saffron came to Ireland from London in September 2004 for the Ballymaloe Cookery Course. It was while Arun was working at the house that he came up with the idea of importing spices. Arun got his whole family to help out with his mother coming up with the name of the business and his fathers’ contacts in India along with his wife and two brothers helping out where possible. Having a lot of relatives still in India, Arun isn’t short of help, with one of his cousins, Guria, being the spice quality controller. Guria’s husband, Vievek is the business brain whilst his father provides expertise in import trading.
